New Year’s Resolution

In Design on January 26, 2013 at 3:55 PM

One of my promises to myself this year was to make sure to document and share the work I do. Thus I have been scheduling photo shoots like a mad woman as well as trying to find the right platform for a new website – something mobile friendly, easily updated by me or mine rather than a team of specialists etc. But for now I thought I would just start posting stuff willy-nilly to my blog.

Here are a couple of shots from Wednesday’s shoot.

Story: Cute family expecting their third daughter. The first two daughters are heading into their tween – teen years and the parents wanted them to be excited about bunking-up in the same room together. Here is a BEFORE shot of the room:

You Light Up My Life.

In Design on October 20, 2012 at 12:25 PM

When I was in 2nd grade I had an experience that scarred me to this day. Sitting in a horseshoe shape in the music room of a new school, a thirty something teacher with long straight blonde hair and no sense of children or childhood made me stand up and sing “You Light Up My Life” to the entire class unaccompanied so she could “see what kind of voice” I had. After I failed miserably (I didn’t even know all of the words, and started crying about half way through), she made another girl stand and show me how I was supposed to have done it. This other girl won the talent show later that month singing that song, and then went on to sing in commercials.

Isn’t that kind of mean.

But this is nice!

Such a nice change from the overused – especially here in Seattle – Edison Bulb!

Buy it here.

Check out this firms site – Commute – I saw the plaster wall medallion installation on Remodelista this morning and then have spent the last half hour pouring over their site.

Salvage.

Took an impromptu trip to Re-Store and Second Use and this is what I saw:

One note – If I had 8,900.00 for a stainless steel bathtub, I wonder if I would just buy it new?

Anthropologie.

I was hanging a show of some of my work at the Anthropologie downtown the other night. After the store closed, I overheard the staff meeting at which the manager told them that it was the best December that that particular store had ever had. I think that this must be a good sign for the economy!

Here are some of my picks from their site:

They have a bunch of different versions – could easily be done with cool remnant fabric for the DIY’rs out there – I guess I could say that that I am already day dreaming about summer dinner parties outside… – these would be sooo great – Hunt – This would be your backyard!

Okay – if I wasn’t so enamored of the industrial edge of things I might be getting tired of these – but as it stands – nope – still love them!

Love these stools – – Jones – I am talking to you – I know you wanted backs but look how they would just hug your booty! and there is a foot rest….

Kaldestad – This one is all you! One of the jewels…. we were speaking of ?

And hellooo… – Jones this should be at Whidbey – When guests bring out a favorite dish it goes in the book!

Like this?

You can now make this:

The Lindsey Adelman DIY chandelier. She lists all the parts, gives instructions etc. Karmic goodness to her!

Thanks Remodelista for posting!
