Final Decisions.

A fine couple, we shall call them Mary and Steve, are in the final rounds of their project. Having moved from San Diego to the Great Northwest they have taken on a Ballard craftsman-ish style house and we have been working to make it their own. I have loved working with them every step of the way, as they are interesting as people, have a great sense of humor, and aren’t afraid to take some risks to make their home – theirs. We have done some fun things and will finish with a few more before it is all over. That said some final decisions are being made and I wanted to share with you some of the options as they are all quite fun!

The Hole:

Where once a giant furnace aptly named Hercules ruled, a man-cave deluxe will take it’s place. The 30×30″ iron grid cover that was it’s gateway is inconveniently located in the center of the living and dining room. Rather than patch the fir floors and cover the hole we are going to insert one of the following light transmitting covers:

A custom piece from Think Glass such as this:

A resin piece layered with something textural  like this (I especially like the popped bubble wrap, and then the x rays are quite interesting considering they were Public Defenders in their last lives)
